When I was invited to sit on a panel for Women’s Entrepreneur Week, I was asked to sum up my business advice into a few words. I thought this was impossible. I mean, have you met/read me?! But one of my favorite food pontificators, Michael Pollan, came to mind and inspired:

Hey guys! I am t-minus days away from vacation and dude, am I ready to check out. This impending trip set me straight to our inspiration for May – Vacation is a state of mind.

Let’s be honest – this week with my toddlers 24/7 will be the furthest thing from relaxing, so I’m setting other vacation goals. Instead, I’m looking forward to getting away from work, laundry, and the daily routine to give me a fresh outlook on life. Sometimes all it takes is pressing pause on the daily grind to give you the strength to jump back in.

So as I may have mentioned one or 100 times, this last Sunday was my birthday. (Yah, birthday!!) To celebrate, I did absolutely nothing productive. I had a whole lot of fun, though!

I slept in late and took a nap. I made a couple different kinds of bread. I hung out with my girls. I almost stayed in PJs most of the day except for a quick run listening to my favorite new podcast. In short, it was glorious!

Hi friends! I am just back from 10 days of vacation. Or rather, a trip. I’m not sure anyone would qualify 5+ days in a car, a trip to Sesame Place, a zoo, and downtown Chicago as a relaxing experience, but I wasn’t working so WIN!!

The trip itself was perfect. The girls did surprisingly well in the car. Not to humble brag (because this is LOOK AT ME bragging), but we made it the whole way without any screens.

If you know me at all, you know I’m always on a half-hearted journey to quit my Diet Coke habit. I’ll try different things but usually find my way back.
