What We’re Reading – Wine Pairing Style

book and wine pairings

I’ve spent the last few years trying to find a hobby, but it just recently hit me that I already have some. I love to read, exercise, stress about the news, drink wine, and bake/eat/read about all things chocolate. Turns out, I’m not the only gal who fits that bill. If this goes for you too, then please enjoy our most recent favorite reads based on your favorite kinds of wine.

Book and Wine Pairings

BTW, if you like this game, you should definitely check out my friend Rikki of @vin_diagram, on Instagram. She’s made a whole business out of pairing specific books with specific bottles of wine and is an expert at her craft!

If you like…

Something Sweet and Floral…

Try The Forever Summer by Jamie Brenner, my new favorite author. This book gives you viewpoints from women of all ages and a variety of backgrounds all tied together in one beautiful New England package. If Hallmark published books, this would definitely be in their vault.

Something Dry with a Hint of Bubbles…

You need to read Remarkably Bright Creatures by Shelby Van Pelt or Last Dance of the Debutante by Julia Kelly. Unless you’ve been living underneath a bookish rock, everyone has probably already told you about the octopus and his new friend in the first book, so I don’t need to waste more words. Instead, let me tell you the latter book gives you all the yummy fashion details one can handle while still having enough of an empowering message to feed your feminist side.

Something Grown Off of Old Vines with Notes of Ocean Breeze…

In a year where I’ve ready more books than I could possibly remember, Black Cake by Charmaine Wilkerson stuck with me. Not only is it a family history based on a cake recipe, but the sensual writing from Ms. Wilkerson takes you right to the time and place of the scene. I can’t wait to read more of her work.

Anything Bold and Spicy…

If an unashamed loud, bold, robust, full-bodied vintage is more your bag and you love a strong dose of spice in your reading, get your hands on a copy of It Happened One Summer by Tessa Bailey. Featuring an Alexis Rose inspired main character paired with a grumpy fisherman who reminds us of Roy Kent, the sparks and spice start flying fast and furious quickly in this book, yet it has huge heart and character development.

As always, we can’t wait to hear what you’re reading these days. Hit us up on Instagram to share your recs and don’t forget to tell us about your beverage pairing of choice!
