Everyone knows the Hunger Task Force holds a special place in our hearts here at The Real Good Life and this holiday season we are thinking of them more than ever.
Need is higher than normal this year because, of course it is. 2020 is the worst. But really, with more people out of work and no agreement on a relief plan from the government, food banks like this are working overtime to ensure no one goes hungry tonight.
This year, one in eleven Wisconsin citizens (and one of every seven children) will experience food insecurity. We simply have to help.
As you hopefully already know, 2% of every sale goes towards the general fund at the Hunger Task Force. We believe in the organization’s management to use our money however it is most needed, be it pallets of food or a towards a staff person’s salary.
Additionally, we are pleased to announce our virtual Food for Families food drive is open! Yes, in the face of COVID, where all things in-person are discouraged, we aren’t asking for your actual cans of corn or boxes of cereal this year. Instead, please visit this page and do your charitable grocery shopping there. You can pick dollar amounts representing everything from a few gallons of milk to a full holiday meal with all the trimmings for a family in need.
Our goal is to raise $500. To participate, please follow this link. Personally, I went with a breakfast theme; getting eggs, cereal, milk, and peanut butter. It’s like putting together a themed gift basket!
In the absence of the traditional bins at grocery stores and in big workplaces, Hunger Task Force needs us more than ever. I thank you from the bottom of my heart for every penny you are willing to give. Together, we will put more full bellies and full hearts at tables throughout the Milwaukee region.
Today I am grateful for you, friend.
